The ultimate starter pack, Certificate IV in Theatre & Screen Performance is the perfect introduction to acting for theatre and screen. It covers all performance angles and includes comprehensive training in the areas of voice, movement, singing, industry awareness and career preparation.

You get to play your part in a number of in-house productions throughout the course, and take centre stage in a three-night production in front of a paying crowd… talk about immersive! 

The course incorporates a range of performance techniques, including the Eric Morris system, which provides students with the necessary skills to take on acting and production roles in the performing arts. Training includes formulating an understanding of the adaptability required between stage, film and television performances, and is designed to foster self-awareness and confidence, both on stage and off.

Certificate IV OF Theatre & Screen Performance

Consisting of 15 units of competency that cover everything from theatre and screen history, voice skills, audition skills, movement skills and even how to bump-out a production at the end of its run, Certificate IV in Theatre & Screen Performance is the ultimate introduction to a career in acting and performance. 

Our tutors are all industry professionals, working across a broad section of the performing arts industry, and their training draws upon a diverse range of methodologies including the works of Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Adler, Strasberg, Chekhov and the Eric Morris complete acting system. 

This highly tailored performance training is designed to develop a sense of play and exploration, spatial and sensory awareness, the breaking down of blocks and inhibitions, and developing students’ own unique expressions of themselves in a nurturing environment.

Certificate IV also develops your knowledge and understanding of current trends, milestones and the history of the performing arts industry in Australia. You will learn about the mechanics of building your career and understanding the role of agents, as well as how to create independent theatre, support networks and other promotional and career-building opportunities.

The course runs full-time over one semester or part-time over two semesters. Student who complete the certificate may wish to articulate into the Advanced Diploma program.

Upon graduation you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to begin your journey toward a successful career within the performing arts industry. Previous graduates have achieved acceptance into AFTT’s Advanced Diploma courses, and renowned international drama schools. There have been many performance troupes and companies formed by our graduates and a number of successful film productions, some of which have enjoyed acceptance into various international festivals. 
For some graduates, the skills developed through the course have been applied within the corporate sector, providing highly developed skills in public speaking, confidence and presentation. 
AFTT Cert IV actors are well developed performers able to utilise their skills to achieve success in their chosen area.
