The 24 Hour Project

The Academy of Film, Theatre and Television is proud to present the 24 hour project! This collaboration between the first year film students and acting students happens within the first few weeks of joining AFTT to kick-start their course with a fun, creative and hands on project.

Students have 24 hours to make a film from conception to screening. As Course Director of Film, Peter Milynn describes; ‘‘They get, in a very compressed manor, the entire process, so they will go through all the phases of the film making process."

Acting Course Director Glen Hamilton believes it is "a great opportunity for actors to mix with film-makers early in the course, thus forging those collaborative working relationships early. It also really helps for the actors to be involved in the WHOLE process of film making, from script inception, right through to final editing and screening to get a better idea of the process."

The idea behind this project is to try and capture the talent, intuition and sense of creativity early on in the course, to be able to nurture and work with this. It also gives the students an insight into all of the challenges of making a film from the very beginning, and how to solve them by working closely with others, both actors and film makers.

As all of the courses here at AFTT are very hands-on, including the Acting for Stage and Screen Course, the Screenwriting, Directing and Producing course, and our Cinematography course, it perfectly displays the industry professional approach that is put into every course.
