The AFTT Graduating Acting Company of 2019 presents ‘Three Sisters’.
Welcome to the Prozorov household, with sisters Olga, Masha, Irina and their brother Andrey. Over the course of the next four years one of them will marry and have children, another has an affair, there’s a fire in the town, Olga is promoted and one of them moves on. It’s all as untidy and chaotic as life.
The play was written in 1900. Chekhov's father had died two years earlier and he was in the final stages of tuberculosis. Not surprisingly the play is shadowed by death and memory: it is about dreams and expectations, yearnings and disappointments, grief and memory, presence and duration, missed opportunities and the need to go on.
It seems as though in a little while the solution would be found and a lovely new life would begin for them … it was clear that the end was still very far away, and the hardest and most difficult part was only beginning.
