As Australia’s most immersive contemporary creative arts academy, we are proud to present numerous stage performances each year for our Graduating acting students at the prestigious Belvior St Theatre.
This August and September, we have seen three productions take place at Belvoir; ‘Our Class’, ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ and ‘Spring Awakening’, as well as one production housed here in our AFTT in-house theatre, ‘Romeo and Juliet’.

“Each of our graduating productions demonstrated the significant skills of our actors as well as production qualities on par with those in the professional industry. The quality of this work was, across the board, the best yet for the Academy." - Glen Hamilton Course Director of Acting
“Performing at Belvoir Theatre as Maggie Mundy in 'Dancing at Lughnasa' by Brian Friel, was the highlight of my year. Being surrounded by a team of creative professionals throughout the duration of the rehearsal and performance period really prepared us all for the acting industry. My graduation show experience really reflected industry standards and since then, I have only been more eager and motivated to join the industry as a professional working Actor.” - Daniela Haddad AFTT Acting Student
With a distinct focus on engagement with industry, all of our teachers, Directors and consultants are themselves working professionals. In a further commitment in bringing the industry into the AFTT acting syllabus, we have engaged external highly regarded industry directors such as Anthony Skuse to take the reigns of the graduate production of ‘Our Class’, enabling the students to learn to work with new directors at the top of their field, enabling a truly submersive and industry engaged experience for our soon –to-be graduates.
“Performing Spring Awakening at the Belvoir space has been a whole other-worldly experience. It was just such a privilege to immerse myself in a professional theatre. Knowing that I was in a space that so many iconic Australian actors have performed in encouraged me to perform to the best of my ability and maintain a professional work ethic. Having less tutor presence and more of a directorial presence over our rehearsal process was a rewarding experience that I grew leaps and bounds from as an actor and I learnt so many valuable lessons for tackling future projects. I feel as though I am prepared for the industry and have the confidence to walk into auditions and be comfortable with the director or casting director thanks to the experience of working with an industry professional in my graduation play.” – Maddie Slarks AFTT Acting Student
"The students did such a great job with their graduation productions at Belvoir. Working alongside guest directors and designers, and collaborating closely with the stage management students, it was a season of challenging, moving works and they created some extraordinary pieces of theatre.
It was a wonderful experience to create with them, see them grow as actors as they developed their craft, explored new rehearsal processes and embraced every challenge as an opportunity to discover something new about themselves and their work as artists. They are all about to launch their professional careers and I can’t wait to see what they do next.” – Luke Rogers
Currently working on their showreels, AFTT’s Acting students will come away with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, ready to successfully enter the industry.
